1. Guard Card Course 2. Application 3. Live Scan.
We only provide the Guard Card Course
Guard Card Application and fingerprint Live Scan are not included
However we can guide you with the application and fingerprinting live scan
Please bring paper and pen if you want to take notes
Bureau of Security Services may take around 60 days to process your guard card

What are the requirements to register as a Security Officer?
1.) Be atleast 18 years old
2.) Undergo a criminal background check through the California Department of Justice
and the Federal Bureau of Investigation
(This would be the live scan fingerprinting)
3.) Complete a 40-hour course of required training (guard card, 30 days and 6 months course)
How can I get a guard card to start working?
Take the guard card course, fill out guard card application and get a live scan.
Do we provide Live Scan Fingerprinting?
No but we can guide you where they do live scan fingerprinting
What if I have a felony or misdemeanor conviction?
Crimes of violence and felonies automatically disqualify you from applying to be a security guard in the state of California.
Do I have to let BSIS know if I change my address?
Yes. You must notify BSIS in writing within 30 days of an address change.
How long does my guard card last?
Registration is valid for two years and expires the day after the expiration date on your card.
How can I check the status of my guard card?
You can contact BSIS. Guard card approval can take up to 60 days.
